The National Telecommunications and Technology Institute (NTTI), located at the Sheikh Hassan Barsane Campus, has successfully concluded a three-day skills development training program held from 8–10 September 2025, aimed at empowering Somali youth with practical technical skills.

A total of 43 young participants took part in the training, which focused on CCTV Camera Installation and Configuration. The sessions were led by experts specializing in Networking and Security Systems, combining both theoretical lessons and hands-on practical exercises to ensure comprehensive learning.

The training was designed to equip the youth with market-relevant skills that can improve their employment prospects and foster innovation within the technology sector.

At the closing ceremony, all participants were awarded certificates of participation, recognizing their commitment and engagement throughout the three-day program.

Speaking at the event, Mohamed Ahmed Abdullahi Goosaar, Director of NTTI, praised the participants for their dedication and eagerness to learn, stating:

“Organizing this training program aligns with NTTI’s broader vision to be a center of excellence for learning, training, and the advancement of digital skills, innovation, and modern technology. Our goal is to empower Somali youth with the tools and knowledge they need to create opportunities for themselves and contribute solutions to unemployment.”

Founded in 1974, the National Telecommunications and Technology Institute was one of the key public institutions in Somalia until it was disrupted by the civil war in 1991. Recognizing its vital role in society, the Federal Ministry of Communications and Technology has taken steps to revive and restore the Institute, positioning it as a national leader in digital skills training and modern technological advancement.
